Reason for Plumptre’s Saudi Arabia Move Explained

Plumptre completed her move to the Saudi Women Premier League side this Wednesday.

The 25-year-old impressed at the just concluded FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, starting all Nigeria’s four games at the tournament.

“Football for me has always been about connecting, not just more with myself, but with the people I’m surrounded by, my teammates, staff. And everything I’ve done so far in my career it’s been

about representing something bigger than myself,” she said in a club video.

“Joining Al-Ittihad I feel as if I’ll have so many opportunities on and off the pitch to be able to learn about football here.

“I don’t come here with any expectations, I come here being myself and I hope I can learn and take so much from the environment both as a football player but more importantly as a human being and I’m already feeling that.

“I’m just looking forward to getting this journey started with this team and seeing what we can achieve in every aspect,” She said.

Meanwhile, the new Saudi Women’s Premier League season is set to kick off on October 13.
