Qaudri retains ITTF Africa Senior Championship crown

Aruna Quadri retained his  has ITTF Africa Senior Championships crown, following final victory over rival Ahmed Saleh of Egypt.

The Nigerian superstar beat Salah 4-0 (11-2, 12-10, 11-6, 11-6) in the men’s singles final in Tunisia on Sunday evening.

Aruna arrived the final in full confidence after semi final win (12-10, 11-6, 11-9, 11-2) over compatriot Olajide Omotayo.

Saleh on the other hand, laboured to a 4-2 (12-14, 8-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7) win over Congo’s Idowu Saheed Aruna.

The final indeed lived up to expectations with Qaudri dominating Egyptian to win his clinch his continental title.

The African number one won his second title last year in Algeria with a 4-3 in a closely contested final with Egypt’s Omar Assar.

In the women’s doubles final, the duo of Fatimo Bello and Funke Oshonaike outlasted Egypt’s Sarah Hanffou and Marwa Alhodaby 3-2 (11-8,8-11, 11-4, 7-11, 12-10) to win the gold.
