Odigie Storms out of Presser after Insurance draw against RS Berkane

September 17, 20232 min read

The game took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City and eventually ended in a 2-2 draw.

In the previous round, Insurance managed to defeat ASO Chlef from Algeria with an overall score of 4-2.

However, their encounter with RS Berkane was a different story.

The home side took the lead in the 28th minute when Imade Osarenkhoe scored after the Berkane goalkeeper failed to save Benjamin Tanimu’s shot.

RS Berkane, determined to equalize, managed to do so in the 38th minute through a goal by Hamza El Moussaoui.

In the second half, the Nigerian club regained the lead – in the 65th minute – when Vincent Augustus found the back of the net.

However, Berkane fought back and equalized once again in the 83rd minute with a goal from Mohamed El Morabit.

The disappointing result seemed to have taken its toll on Insurance head coach, Monday Odigie, who expressed his frustration during the post-match press conference.

In a video captured at the venue, Odigie repeatedly shouted at journalists before abruptly leaving the conference.

When asked to comment on his team’s defensive display, which allowed the Moroccans to gain an advantage, the coach seemed agitated and subsequently stormed out.

It remains to be seen how Bendel Insurance will fare in the second leg against RS Berkane.

The pressure is now on the Nigerian team to deliver a strong performance and secure a favorable result.

My name is Precious Etim. I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better.
