Musa to return for FIFA World Cup qualifiers

September 9, 20231 min read

Skipper Ahmed Musa hopes to return to the Super Eagles fold after being omitted from the squad that’ll face Sao Tome and Principe this weekend.

Musa’s omission from the squad for the African Cup of Nations qualifying tie was a surprise to the fans.

Although the winger sustained an injury during Sivasspor’s first league game of the campaign against Samsunspor on August 8, but he returned to play 64 minutes against Samsunspor last weekend.

“Thank you very much, I appreciate you checking up on me, I hope to be back soon for the World Cup qualifiers,” Musa told BBC Africa Sports.

“It’s my dream to play in another World Cup. I believe we have a squad that is equally determined to qualify.

Speaking on the match, Musa is confident his teammates will record another win over the visitors.

“We all know the importance of the game, so we are not going to take that easy because we know the opponents,” he continued.

“We are playing at home. Insha Allah, we are going to win the game and focus more on the World Cup qualifiers. We know what Nigerians always want.” He concluded.

The Super Eagles won the first leg 10-0 in Morocco.

Precious Etim

My name is Precious Etim. I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better.
