I Gave 200 Percent in the Diamond League final — Amusan

September 18, 20232 min read

The former 100m women’s hurdles champion secured the top spot at the Oregon Diamond League on Sunday night.

Notably, Amusan had previously clinched the title in both 2021 and 2022.

She triumphed in the race with a season’s best time of 12.33 seconds.

Amusan joins the ranks of elite athletes achieving this feat, following in the footsteps of Serbia’s Ivana Vuleta, who secured the Diamond League 100m women’s hurdles title in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Speaking after the win, the 26-year-old stated:

“I came out here with determination, believing it’s my race to win, and I gave it my all.

“I knew it was 200% or nothing because I wasn’t settling for second place. So, I came out here and prayed for the strength to succeed.”

“I said this (racing in Eugene) is God’s track. I came here I’m like ‘this is my track, I’m going to dominate’ and God did just that.”

Amusan, who recently lost her world title at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, last month also revealed her next plans after the victory.

“Right now I just want to rest. I’m just grateful to God, that’s all I can say this season.

“This win is not about me, it’s for my coach, my family, for everyone who supported me throughout this year. It’s been a rough one and I’m just thankful,” She concluded.

My name is Precious Etim. I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better.
