BREAKING: Tribunal Sacks APC Lawmaker, Declares Suswam Winner of Benue Senatorial District Election

Markudi, Benue stateThe election petition tribunal sitting in Markudi on Friday, September 8, sacked Emmanuel Udende of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a report by Africa Independent Television (AIT), the tribunal declared Senator Gabriel Suswam of the People Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Senatorial election for Benue North East Senatorial District.

Suswam to return to senate

Suswam, an ex-Benue governor and member of the 9th Senate, had in February lost his bid to return to the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly.

The tribunal’s verdict on Friday, September 8, lasted for over three hours, according to The Sun Newspaper.

In a swift reaction, Innocent Daagba, counsel to sacked the APC senator, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision. He added that he would advise Udende to appeal.

Tribunal declares PDP’s Natacha as winner

In a piece of related news, Legit.ng reported that the National and State House of Assembly Election Petition court in Kogi state sacked Sadiku-Ohere of the APC and declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the PDP as the winner of the February 25 Kogi Central Senatorial election.

The tribunal, in its ruling on Wednesday, September 6, said Akpoti-Uduaghan garnered 54,064 votes while Sadiku-Ohere scored 51,291 votes.

Tribunal sacks Kogi senator

Legit.ng also reported that the Kogi East Senatorial Election Tribunal sacked Senator Jibrin Isah.

Senator Isah, the Senate Committee Chairman on Customs Excise and Tariffs, was sacked because votes were cancelled in some 94 polling units during the last election.

Tribunal sacks LP reps member, Ogah

Legit.ng reported reported that the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia sacked the member representing the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency, Amobi Ogah of the Labour Party (LP).

Delivering its ruling recently, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return given to Ogah and issue the same to Nkeiruka Onyejeocha of the APC.
