Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa insists the team will banish the agony of losing World Cup to ticket to Ghana in Abuja when they face Guinea-Bissau this Friday.

Recalled the Super Eagles for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after playing 1-1 against Ghana at Moshood Abiola’s Stadium in Abuja.

The three time African Champions will host the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau at the same venue this Friday as they seek qualification for 2023 African Cup of Nations.

Speaking with Journalists, Musa, states that the team has put the disappointment behind them and will get rid of the feeling totally with a win against Guinea Bissau.

“We know what happened a year ago here against Ghana. That is behind us now. This is the AFCON qualifier and we want to make the fans happy,” Musa said at a press conference .

“We know the hardship that is currently going on in the country and football is the only thing that unites Nigerians. We want to make them happy”.

On when he intend to call it quit with the National team, Musa whose was largely criticised by the section of the media and fans, said :

“If the coach invites me, I will honour the invitation to play for my country. I have no plan to retire and will continue as long as my body carry me”.

The Super Eagles are going into the Group B game with six points from two games, victory in both game will seal qualification for 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The Flying Eagles were eliminated from the tournament after losing 1-0 to South Korea in the quarter-final match on Sunday.

Seok-Hyun Choi’s extra time strike decided the game after the regulation time had ended without a goal.​

Speaking after the match, Bosso said his team paid for their profligacy in front of goal.

“We tried our best but it wasn’t good enough,” Bosso said. “Our finishing wasn’t good. But you can see we’ve left a group of players for the federation to build on.”

The Korean Republic will now face Flying Eagles’ Group opponents Gli Azzurrini of Italy in the semi final.

Yusuf played his part in the keenly contested game at the Cegeka Arena, coming on came on as a second half substitute.

Genk needed outright win to be Champions after Union Saint-Gilloise had lost 3-1 to Club Brugge, while a draw would be enough for The Reds.

Nigerian, Tolu Arokodare got the first goal of the game for Genk in the first half, converting a pass from Bilal El Khannous on the stroke of half time.

Gyrano Kerk restored parity for Antwerp in the second half, but Bryan Heynen put Genk back in front late in the game.

Genk were just two minutes away from being declared Champions, before Toby Alderweireld scored a stunning long range shot in 94th minute to hand the title over to Antwerp.

It was Royal Antwerp’s first league title since 1957, they also won the Belgian Cup earlier in the season.
